One of the most highly requested Threads updates is coming, with the platform set to launch a test of scheduled posts direct within the Threads app.

Threads scheduling

As you can see in these example screens, Threads users will soon be able to schedule a post direct from the composer, by tapping the three dots menu at the top right of the window.

Instagram and Threads chief Adam Mosseri says that they’ve been developing the option “for months” in order to make it easier for people to plan out their Threads posting process.

As per Mosseri:

“Replies cannot be scheduled – we want to balance giving people more control to plan their Threads posts while still encouraging real-time conversation.”

To be clear, you have been able to schedule your Threads updates via third party platforms since March, when Threads updated its API to enable posting. But it’s not available natively, and it’s not available within Meta’s Business Suite, where you can schedule content for Facebook and IG.

But that too may change, once Threads has had a chance to test its in-app scheduling function.

Threads continues to iterate at a rapid rate, as it looks to catch up to other apps, and compete for a share of attention. The platform is now up to 300 million users, and growing fast, and its weekly, almost daily tweaks and changes continue to provide more functionality to cater to user needs.

And scheduling is a big one, especially for social media managers. Again, you can already do this, and many social media managers would be scheduling their Threads via their management platforms. But the capability to do so natively will ensure that your post formatting is right, and that you’re linking in with direct platform analytics to maximize your performance.

Threads hasn’t provided info on the scope of the initial test, but it will begin to trial the option shortly.
