Rocket barrages were launched from Lebanon into Israel overnight, an Israeli army statement said on Sunday (September 8). Video obtained by Reuters showed two barrages, the first about an hour after midnight and the other about two hours later. Launches and interceptions of rockets were seen in the sky over the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona, while air raid sirens and explosions were heard. The Israeli army statement said that “approximately 20 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon”. “The IDF Aerial Defense Array successfully intercepted most of the projectiles. Fallen projectiles were identified in the area. No injuries were reported,” it added. The army also said it had struck Hezbollah military structures in Lebanon overnight.
