Take heed, prudent shoppers. This week and next, some major, money-saving moments are popping up all around you. Target’s Circle Week, Kohl’s Summer Cyber Deals and Walmart’s Deals Sale are already underway. And on Tuesday—just as Amazon launches its Prime Day sales—Macy’s is unveiling its first-ever All-Star Week, which is eight days of markdowns and perks for Star Rewards members.

What’s All-Star Week?

This week-long sales promotion is centered around Macy’s Star Rewards, the free loyalty program that allows you to earn rewards for dollars spent at Macy’s, macys.com and Macy’s Backstage. You can join for free and start saving immediately. Not only is it the store’s most valuable loyalty event of the year, but merchandise throughout all departments will be going on sale as well.

“We are showcasing thousands of exclusive savings for our best customers,” Macy’s said in a statement. “Whether they are entertaining for a backyard barbeque or buying back-to-school essentials, we have great deals this summer, and several ways to earn more rewards.”

A Quick Review of Star Rewards

For the uninitiated, here’s how Star Rewards works. You get 1 point for every dollar spent. (Macy’s cardholders earn between 2 and 5 points per dollar spent.) Once you’ve racked up 1,000 points, you get $10 in Star Money (which is basically a store credit) that you can spend on future purchases within 30 days.

On the surface, this doesn’t sound like a great deal. If you’re not a Macy’s card holder, you’ve got to spend $1,000 to earn enough points for $10 off. But Macy’s has lots of Bonus Days—times when you can earn Star Money faster.

And the upcoming All-Star Week is basically like a Bonus Day bonanza—a string of days when you can earn three times or 10 times the amount of points per dollar spent on your purchases, depending on what you buy. In some cases, you can earn Star Money for far fewer points than usual. And that’s all on top of thousands of items that have been reduced in price.

How to Save During Macy’s All-Star Week

First things first: Create an account at Macy’s and check the box to join Star Rewards. (Macy’s will ask for your name, email address and birthday.) Then shop between Tuesday, July 16 and Tuesday, July 23, when there will be thousands of items on sale and lots of opportunities to rack up extra rewards points.

Earn three times the loyalty points when you buy items in one of the five categories listed below. If you buy something from three out of these five categories, you’ll automatically get $20 in Star Money.

  • Shoes
  • Cosmetics
  • Bed & Bath
  • Active
  • Handbags

How to Save Even More During Macy’s All-Star Week

If you open a Macy’s credit card account during All-Star Week, you’ll be automatically registered for the Star Rewards program, earning two points for every dollar spent. You’ll get a 30% discount on purchases within the first two days, up to $100 off. Normally, new cardholders get a 20% discount.

Deals on the latest electronics and tech gadgets will pop up throughout the week. Also, look out for daily deals on items by particular brands. These purchases will earn you 10 times the loyalty points. (To stay on top of the sales, download the Macy’s app, click on  your account and enable text, email or in-app notifications.) Here’s a sampling of some of the brands included in the promotion:
