Dr. Edward Sri invites Catholics to a take a deep dive into the Gospels like never before in new book

SAN FRANCISCO — Jesus did not begin his public ministry with facts about faith or rules to follow. Instead, His first question to His original two disciples went straight for their hearts when He asked them, “What do you seek?” The Good News of the Gospel, the kerygma, is all about love, and understanding that focus is the key to Dr. Edward Sri’s new book, WHAT DO YOU SEEK?: ENCOUNTERING THE HEART OF THE GOSPEL (Ignatius Press).

Sri is the co-founder of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students), a theologian, author and presenter of several faith formation programs used by thousands of parishes around the world.

Unfortunately, many Catholics today might know facts about Jesus and the Gospel, but they do not know Him and this story of His love in a way that shapes their entire lives. In WHAT DO YOU SEEK?, Sri, a scripture scholar and leader in Catholic evangelization/faith formation, helps readers enter more deeply into the Gospel, to ponder the mysteries of God’s love for them and his work of salvation, so that they can be transformed, and join in Christ’s work of saving the world.

WHAT DO YOU SEEK? takes readers deeper into the heart of the Gospel. Through “Five Rs” Sri’s book invites us to interiorize the foundational key aspects of the Gospel message: Relationship, Rebellion, Reconciliation, Re-creation and Response.

An excellent resource not just for parishes, families and faith formation, but for every Catholic who wants to go deeper in their relationship with Christ through the timeless message of the Gospel.

“Edward Sri identifies the core of what it means to be Catholic — the core of our witness and our daily living,” said Scott Hahn, author of Rome Sweet Home. “I don’t know of a better guidebook to keep us focused on what’s central to the Gospel — the kerygma — and not peripheral. It will be especially useful when dealing with non-Christian friends and family members.”
